I am thankful for Sandy.

Scheerleaderandy is my sweet cousin that lives in South Carolina – on the beach.  I have  previously told you about my Sandy Girl who is my dearest friend.  We still talk on the phone at least a dozen times a week  and we are planning  a trip. Sandy and I are so close that we finish each others sentences and when we call each other to “vent” we immediately start venting when the other one picks up the line – no hellos or what’ca doing

As I mentioned earlier we are trying to work a spring break trip -we want to go see the shrine built to honor a mouse…and maybe have 1 or 2 margaritas – maybe.sandy

I am so thankful that God brought us together to be the friends and family. I love you so much Sandy.  And by the way – HAPPY BIRTHDAY SWEETHEART!!

Sandy - Randy wanted me to send you this video about  Friendship.

I am thankful for family game night – the laughing, the yelling,  the scheming, the bargaining, the trading, and the fact that it took over 3 hours to play!!  Yes…it was Monopoly “the City” version.

I am also thankful for snow…it is so pretty.

I am so very thankful for my husband Randy. IMG_2103 I dated a few undesirables for many years…and was even proposed to several times but each time I said no…there was something in my heart that said it wasn’t right.  However when Randy proposed to me in May of 1999 I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that was the man the Lord intended for me to marry.

Is Randy perfect?  No way – but he is perfect for me.  He makes me laugh, he makes me think deeper, and he makes me a better person.  He makes me CrAzY sometimes but from what I understand that is how the Lord made all husbands.  He is very loving and giving and takes the best care of me.  (Especially this morning – I celebrated a little too hard with Larry & Julie last night – WVU beat Pitt!  WHEW-WHOOOO!!)

Randy is the best Daddy and loves our son like nothing I have seen before!  I am blessed that the Lord put us together.  I have never been loved nor will I ever be loved like I am by my husband.

Happy Thanksgiving!

As I gather around my dining room table with my family today I will quietly reflect what I am thankful for.  My husband, my son, my parents, my brothers, my sisters, my friends, my health, my home, my freedom, the military,  and many more things.

But…

Reigning over all of those thoughts will be what I am truly most thankful for - God’s love.   His Word, His forgiveness, His grace, His mercy, His peace, His joy, His understanding, and His ability to make everything right.  Everyday I take for granted my Salvation.  Salvation is the greatest gift – it can’t be bought or sold and no one can take it away from you.  Our Lord went to a hill one day and paid for you and I – with his blood.  He had many opportunities to say no but He didn’t.  God gave His only son so that you and I can live forever.  How do we ever repay this?  Thank you just doesn’t seem adequate.

Praise the Lord.

I am very thankful that I am DONE!  I have worked very hard the past nine days decorating my home for Christmas and preparing for Thanksgiving.  I know the Christmas thing is ridiculous since it is only the 25th of November but I wanted Thanksgiving to be special for my brother Larry since he will not be home for Christmas.  I do stress out trying to prepare but I love it when am done!  Now I am off to Weight Watchers – which has been really bad the past three weeks.  Oh well…tomorrow is a new day…ohhh wait…tomorrow is turkey day!!  Friday is a new day!!IMG_5092

Happy Birthday Allen!                                                                                         I am so thankful you are my brother.  IMG_0153 As I am thbabyinking of an adjective to describe Allen I can’t think of just one!  Allen is so much fun, organized, very smart, funny, articulate, driven, inspiring, and creative.  Allen is the type of person you want to be around.  He is adventurous and spontaneous. Gloria (his wife) jokes that Allen wants to travel down every main AND back road in the state of Texas – and she is right!  He stops at all historical markers and makes a vacation a learning experience.  If there is a project or something to do Allen will give 100% all the time.  I have never seen him procrastinate or leave anything undone.

I think it is so cool that he has an extensive collection of arrow heads, fossils, and really unique rocks.  He is also the king at bargain hunting, shopping for a great deal, and knowing what is the best deal.  He has a great laugh and a smile that lights up a room.43290009He is also a wonderful Dad, a loving Uncle and a faithful son. I love him so much.  I am so proud to call him my brother.DSCN0316

I am thankful for my friend Laura.

SURPRISE!!!!cd5dac7a0087a47c

Laura had a significant birthday last Sunday – when I should have posted this blog but she would have expected that…so I am surprising her today.  (To make a long story short I was planning a surprise b-day party for her…she found out…and made me promise I would not surprise her.  So…here’s her surprise!)

ManDSCN0488y years ago Laura’s husband Steve and my husband Randy  worked together.  One day out of the blue Laura called me and said we should hang out sometime - after that phone call we became best buds.  The sad part to this friendship is…she lives  847 miles away.  We talk on the phone several times a week, e-mail each other, and keep in touch through blogs.  Here is a link to her blog – she has great pictures & mesmerizing tales!http://fargofiskins.blogspot.com/

Laura is one of my smart friends - she is a scientist. (Can you hear me telling you this is a “child like” tone?)  I am impressed that I have a friend….that is a scientist!  She knows everything about the human body and how it works.

Laura is so funny.  And she says the funniest stuff.  For example…one day when I was about eight months pregnant and on bed rest I called Laura crying.  Actually I was sobbing and I said “what if  I mess up being a Mommy….what if I screw up….what if I do things wrong”…booo-hooo….boooo-hoooo”.  Expecting to hear a calm voice on the other end say something like…”oh…it’s okay honey your going to be a perfect Mom and not screw anything up….stop worrying….it’s going to be okay.”  INSTEAD…Laura said  in a dry tone “oh….don’t worry….your going to screw up…and your going to mess up…your not perfect but God is”.    I laughed so hard – it was perfect and exactly what I needed to hear.

Laura is great Mother and loves her boys so much.  She is devoted to her boys and her family.  She is the type of Mother that takes her boys to the park at least 2 to 3 times a week, always has little adventures planned for them, and gives to them before she gives to her self.  I love it when they visit and we all go running together.  It warms my heart to see my boy play with her boys.  Her sons are very loving to John and John thinks he is as big as they are.  It is fun to see our boys together.IMG_1978DSCN0508 I am excited about this week,  Laura and her family will be here  for Thanksgiving.  I only get to see her a few days out of the year and our time together goes so fast.

Happy Birthday dear friend.  Thank you for always being there for me…listening, advising, encouraging, inspiring, caring, loving me, and sending me the best cards!  Can’t wait to see you!!

I am thankful for my beautiful home.  My home is not in the newest neighborhood and it is not a fancy house but it is my home – and it is lived in.  On any giving day you will find toys throughout every room, stains on my kitchen floor, dust on the book shelves, and a little boy riding a train from room to room.Pc040910I am very thankful for my neighbors -  I love my neighbors!  To the right is the Laminack Family, to the left is the Massey’s, and we have Farmer’s directly in front of us.  As I think of this…I feel very blessed and thankful.

F.F.F. - November 20, 2009

In July 2008 when my brother Larry told me that he was going to Iraq to work I cried….for at least a week.  I was devastated.  I begged and pleaded and try to convince him not to go under any circumstances.  But he went.  Then I cried for another two weeks.061Here we are…a year and several months later and I am happy for the decision Larry made.   Don’t get me wrong…I hate him being in Iraq but he loves his job and he really enjoys knowing that he is helping out our military.CIMG3885Larry’s new home is at Camp Liberty…they call it Camp Cupcake - it is a huge base outside Baghdad.  It is not as rough as I thought it would be – they have a Burger King, Baskin Robbins, and Pizza Hut.  There seems to always be a celebrity entertaining them and they have special events non-stop.  Larry goes on tours & adventures of Iraq all the time.  034Larry drives a tow truck on base and gets to go off base sometimes to help the military out.  He is really great at his job and has several awards from the military for doing an outstanding job.  Larry gets to come home 2-3 times a year for two weeks at a time.  It’s funny….I have seen Larry MORE times this year than I have in the last 5 years!  Plus…he is able to stay and visit for more than a day!   HPIM0930Larry is home for Thanksgiving this year.  We have not had a Thanksgiving together since 1999 – I am looking forward to cooking for him and hugging his neck.  Since he won’t be home for Christmas I have already decorated everything for him…I want this to be a special & happy time for him.  The only thing that could make this better was if Allen, Gloria, & Ryan would be here.

I am so proud of my brother Larry.  He has been on a long and hard road for awhile…it is good to see good things happen to him! P5230041

I am thankful that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow.  (Heb 13:8)

I am thankful that I may boldly say: “The Lord is my helper, I will not fear.  What can man do to me?”  (Heb 13:6)

Happiness

It is truly the little things that can make a person happy.

As many of you know John has a great love of trains.  It use to be exclusively Thomas the Train but now it seems to be ALL trains.

As we went hunting for MORE Christmas lights last night at Lowe’s John spotted this really cute musical train.  The train lights up, plays 20 different songs, puffs smoke, and has moving parts – including Santa.   As I said it was really cute…until I seen the price!!  I told John I was sorry but no way could we spend that sort of money and started walking down the aisle.  Well….John’s Daddy got the train down off the shelf and let him have a good look at it!  Needless to say….his Daddy bought him this train.  Randy told me that he will only be little once – we need to remember this moment.

And I will.

F.F.F. – November 13, 2009

I am thankful for family.

I love my Aunts.  I have been blessed to have 12 Aunts - Helen, Jenny, Loretta, Lou, Thelma, Magaline, Barbara, Irene, Elba, Patsy, Mavis, & Janet.  There are a few that I never had a chance to meet, there are a few that I am not that close too, and the rest are…and were my buddies.

This photo is my Mom’s older sisters.sistersThis my Mom and my Aunt Janet.   mom&janetThis is my Aunt Lou.lou

When I married Randy I got another Aunt….Aunt Kathy.  Since she and Uncle John lived in Oklahoma I did not get to spend much time with her.  Sadly Aunt Kathy passed away this week.  Aunt Kathy was a devoted wife and mother - she loved her family very much.  After Uncle John passed away last year her health began to deteriorate rapidly – she missed Uncle John so much.  She is at peace, in no pain, and with her love now.

F.F.F. - November 6, 2009

I am thankful for my dogs.

Dogs….silly little creatures. How can these little fur balls get into our hearts like they do? I have always loved dogs but it really changed when Randy bought me KiKi in January 2003. KiKi is a great…loyal dog. Randy laughs and say KiKi loves me…and tolerates everyone else. kiki3IMG_0461Soo105-0502_IMGn after we got KiKi we went on the hunt for KiKi a dog. We searched high and low with no luck of finding the perfect pooch! To make a long story short we ended up getting a double dapple dachshund by accident…sort of. Doxy immediately became Randy’s baby. He even had a ridiculous pouch that he wore on his chest to carry Doxy around in!! It was so funny seeing this huge…masculine man wearing a little dog!!!103-0385_IMGLast but not least…we have another dog…he is s uppose to be a miniature black & tan dachshund. Like me…he is “fluffy”…which makes him not so mini…I keep threatening to take him to WW with me!! We sort of inherited this sweet puppy – another long story. His original name was Gunther but when we got him we started calling him several names…for a while he went by Devil Dog, then it was Poppers, and finally the name that has sort of stuck is Dopey. Randy started calling him Dopey…cause he…looked Dopey and acted Dopey!! He has short front legs and long back legs…and he was not the brightest bulb in the pack!! He is so cute…and he likes me best! ha…ha… I have become really attached to him and would cry if his original owner wanted him back! Poppers (he will come to any of the above names) has become the “go between” with KiKi and Doxy. KiKi and Doxy use to be best buds but when Poppers came along…he and Doxy hooked up. They share the same bed and play together. Poppers really likes KiKi too…he is just fun and wants everyone to just get along!! I know…I am insane…these are dogs!!! Poppers will be 4 tomorrow! Yes…I am one of those types that celebrates my puppies birthday!!IMG_0056IMG_0011a IMG_0084 I am going to end this with a sad story. My friends Dollie & Mike lost one of their most beloved dogs this week. Sweet Button who was only 8 years old apparently had a tumor/cancer and died on Tuesday. This was a shock because they didn’t even know she was sick. Button was as loyal and faithful as a dog could be. She went everywhere with Mike & Dollie and stood by their side when it seemed like the world was falling apart. She is deeply missed.

I am thankful for a beautiful sunny day!  I am thankful that I am able to stay at home with my son…and spend the day at the park instead of doing laundry & housework!  I am thankful my parents live close to me and spent the day with me & John!
