Good Sunday!

Today has turned put to be a pretty great day!
In the Hare household our first baby Kiki (the cocker spaniel) is turning five today! Yes…we are “those” type of people that celebrate animal birthdays…actually am that type of person…Randy just goes along with me to amuse me!!
We have a special birthday cake chew toy that the dogs get to play with on their b-day plus they get a gift…a big bone and a new squeaky toy. I took Kiki over to my folk’s house to play catch with and John was in a great mood so I took him over there to play too!
The big highlight of the day…John let out his first big laugh and I got it on camera!! It was priceless!!! John is two months today - already!!
Hope you had a great Sunday!! Here is my verse for the day…Psalms 23:5-6 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
Love – Tina

BTY - I got the saddest call about midnight last night. A little voice said…”I think you have my dog”…Radar’s Mommy had come home!! So…I rushed Radar back to her– a nine year old little girl who had obviously been crying her eyes out!! It was great! It was worth the trouble!!!
They were VERY thankful!!!

Unexpected Overnight Guest...

It started out as a normal fall Saturday. John and I went to Spudnuts early for chocolate donuts to prepare for the highly anticipated WVU vs Rutgers game. WVU is ranked 6 by BCS and Rutgers is not ranked – the media was predicting an upset!! WVU has beat Rutgers 12 straight times however…it is always a good rival…last year it went into two or three overtimes! The game was great – WVU won 31-3!! During the last half of the game John became really fussy. We could not decide if it was gas, teething (yes – he has started that), colic, or maybe the fact I trimmed one of his fingernails little to close!!! I had not had a shower and I needed to run some errands plus Randy and I were getting tired…the only way to settle him was to walk the floor with him. So…I did what any good mother would do…I called 1-800-Grandma! She told me to bring him over. So I loaded him up – the second he got in the car seat he was happy – see the picture…and look at the size of his feet!!!
When we got to Mom’s he seemed happy and I was walking out the door. As I was leaving I looked out Mom’s front window and seen the cutest little dog! He looks like a Papillon. I looked for an owner to be chasing him and there was no one in site! So I called him over and he ran and jumped in my arms! His tags did not have his owner’s name or number but the tag indicated he had one of those chips in him. Before I called the 1-800-find-your-pet I went to several doors on the block and no one knew anything about this dog. So…I went to Mom’s and called the 800 number…where I was on hold for fifteen minutes. Finally someone answered but the number listed as the owner was the local veterinary clinic here in town!! So…I called them and got the answering service that had to call the vet…another 30 minutes. By now I am to far involved in this dogs life to kick him out the front door and wish him luck!! The vet calls me back and I give him the rabies tag number…she said it would be at least an hour before she could call me back! I put the little dog in Mom’s backyard for the time…he was running around like crazy – a very happy energetic little dog. Well…there are kittens next door…4 of them…they decided to see what the fun was about…they hopped the fence. The little dog thought they were the berries and chased them wanting to play…they just hissed at him. So... put them back over the fence but they kept coming back!! By this point I was like "whatever"!! Then John started having a fit crying…actually screaming. Mom and Dad panicked – they HATE to see John upset…Mom was ready to take him to the ER but my motherly instinct told me things were okay. The three of us took turns holding John, throwing kittens over the fence, and calming a crazy little dog!! The vet called…the dog…Radar-he has a name... belongs to the lady across the street…they left messages and gave left her my number. I then left my number on her door and I a message on her home & cell phone. I couldn't leave Radar with Mom and Dad…they are not "equipped" to handle a little dog…what about John…he was really upset… I loaded John back up and told Mom I would be back for Radar!!!
On my way back to the house all of the hot air balloons were out – if you lived here I hope you seen them!! They were beautiful…except for this one that looked like it was going to crash! As soon as I got home I yelled at Randy to jump in the truck so we could look at these balloons –plus John stopped crying since we were driving! The balloons were great but this one was coming straight for our neighborhood…it got really low! It was funny to see all the people out looking at the balloons and chasing them…including us! Randy had me run back home to get the cameras. The balloon actually landed in the middle of Coulter between 34th & I-40! For those of you that don’t live here – that is a major street!! Great excitement!
I know…this is a blog not a book but it gets better!! Once we got home and the car stopped…John started! Randy ordered pizza and I walked the baby…then Randy walked the baby and I ate dinner. Once I starved a couple pieces of pizza I got a kennel and went to Mom’s get pick up Radar and bring him home until I hear from his owners! He is such a sweet dog!! The girls (Doxy & Kiki) they don't like him at all but Dopey thought he was big fun!!! As of 11:30 I have not heard from the owner! I have Radar in his own kennel out of site from the other dogs for tonight!! I didn’t know what else to do!! The story will continue!! Oh and John…he is great now…whatever was troubling him…he is over it – thank goodness!! I am going to bed now!!! Love you!!!

To bed or not to bed…that is the question!

So…I am having a Mommy dilemma.
John has been sleeping in his co-sleeper since he came home – the co-sleeper is right beside my bed…I can hear everything! Okay…let me be honest with you…he sleeps in the co-sleeper 50% of the time – the other time he sleeps between me and Daddy. He starts out in the co-sleeper around 10pm but when he wakes up for his 3am feeding I bring him back to bed with me. There are times we just go straight to be with Mommy and Daddy. Then there is the nap issue…fortunately we both love to take naps…we nap together in the “big” bed. He is the best to sleep with…a true little cuddle bug…although after a couple of hours we both wake up wringing wet from being so close…its fun…we both look at each other like “whew” that’s hot! (Even now as I type this he is looking at me with these huge eyes saying…”Mommy lets go lay down in the big bed and nap…please.”)
Back to the point…When do I move him to his bed in his room? I don’t think he will have the issue of changing beds…it’s his Mommy not wanting the baby to leave the nest. I know…I am silly…but moving him to the bed in the other room is like I am letting him grow up. I know…I know…he is growing up and I can’t stop that but does it have to be so fast? He did nap for 10 minutes in his bed the other day – that’s a start right? Randy is so sweet and no help to this matter – which is surprising…I would have never imagined Randy being good with a baby in the middle of our bed but he loves it too. We both love to hear him make the baby noises and we love his little snores.
Am I starting a habit with John? I slept for a long time in between my parents and I remember loving it – it was safe and secure. I would still be sleeping with them if they hadn’t kicked me out of bed!!!
I think I will make the transition soon. I bought a fancy baby monitor on the internet this morning. It is one that I can actually talk to him when I am in the other room, I can make it play music, and I can have it put stars on the ceiling at night without going into the room. The best thing…it is going to take it a week to get here!!! John can sleep with me until it arrives!!

Poor John

Okay...so this Motherhood thing...wow!
It stinks when your little one doesn't feel good and there is nothing you can do for them!John had a round of vaccines yesterday and he was not his usual self today!!
The only thing I accomplished today was the sheets washed and dinner made.

The Red Rooster

This past weekend I went to Canadian, Texas with John and my parents for the annual fall festival. We had fun on the drive down - it is always fun to do a road trip with the folks and John slept the entire way. (I should let you know that Randy and I had an argument before I left Amarillo. He wanted to keep John for the day but I wanted to take John! We debated for an hour over why John should stay or go! It is sweet to think that is what we argue about now...we use to argue over petty stuff...now it is over who gets to hold John, or push John in the stroller, or keep him for the day - it is really precious - thank you Lord!)

Anywho...the leaves unfortunately had not changed in Canadian and it was 95 degrees!

Even though it was not the way we had anticipated it was fun...trying to see me & my parents deal with a two month old baby was entertaining. We kept saying it was the "two senior citizens and the middle aged non-experienced woman with a baby show"!!

Back to the point of my blog...on our way back to Amarillo we stopped in Shamrock, Texas for some drinks...plus little Hare needed his diaper changed and a new bottle. Please understand that when Master Hare is hungry it is a full blown scream to have food and have it now. Then he did a #2 in his diaper...I was out of diaper wipes...the convenience store did not sell them...so I had to make due with paper towels and warm water - thank goodness John did not end up with a diaper rash!! Back to my story...after I got him fed and changed...my nerves are on end by this point...did I mention it was 95 degrees and the wind was blowing like 50 mph!! I got John loaded in the truck...turned around and much to my surprise was a red rooster. It really frightened me! He was so close to me! (Another blog...another time...I had roosters growing up and they use to attack me and Christin all the time...I am a little bit scared of a rooster)

I took a picture of this to show Randy. There was a lady from Oklahoma filling up with gas and asked me if that was my rooster. I told her no and she said she thought it was and I was just letting it stretch its legs!!! There it was a rooster at a convenience store and it wasn't under a warming lamp!! I sure hope he is okay...he was heading for I-40 as we drove away!

Here ya go Missy...

My best friend Missy has been bugging me for months to "do" a blog.

Due to circumstances this past weekend I have decided to blog.
Check out the next post...

Plus I am e-mailing pictures of John to everyone and I am not sure if everyone wants to be bombarded with them everyday! This way people can view them when they want without having the pictures slow their e-mail connection down!!

I am not sure how frequently I will post but keep keep checking in!!
