Special Request...
Hey Friends...
After you read this will you stop and say a prayer for a special family. This family is like family to me and all of my family - we love them dearly. We have been friends over 25 years...we have been through thick & thin together. They are going through some really hard times.
They need lots of prayers - they need lifted up!! Please ask our Lord to hold them close and give them peace.
Thanks!!!
Love - Tina

Happy Daddy's Day
Happy Father’s Day to three of the most important men in my life!First…and MOST important…my Father in Heaven! I am thankful everyday that He loves me more than anyone else I know, He takes care of my every need, and He truly has my best interest at heart! He has a plan and purpose for me! He NEVER lets me down, fails me, or goes back on His word! I love Him more and more everyday! Happy Fathers Day – Father!
Second man…my Daddy. He is the best Daddy! Not many people can say this but…I have never seen my Daddy drunk, be mean to my Mother, speak ill of other people, or not do everything in his power to make sure I had the best of everything in my life! Yes…I am a Daddy’s girl…and a Momma’s girl…I have everything I need – I am truly blessed!
Last but certainly NOT least…the newest Father in my family…the Father to my son…great applause and standing ovation for my Randy! I have to tell you…I always thought Randy would be a good Daddy…but I never could have imagined he would be the sort of Daddy that he is…he is not a Father…he is a Daddy! John is VERY blessed to have a Daddy that loves him like his Daddy does. It doesn’t matter if he has a muddy diaper or icky-sticky on his hands…Daddy is right there in the middle of it! Speaking of middle…if it is the middle of the night…Daddy is there too! I am so thankful that my Father brought us together…let us fall apart…come back together….and be better than ever! This is my happily ever after! I could not have chosen a better man to be the father…Daddy to my son!

The Best Present Ever!!!
John is constantly saying Dadda...all the time!! I try to get him to say Momma but he just yells Dadda louder...then we get into a yelling match of Momma verses Dadda- I never win!!
Today though...the sweetest thing happened...no he didn't say Momma...but...when we saw his Dadda this morning he looked right at him...squealed and said "Daddy"!
He was so happy to see Randy!
It was the berries!
Randy said THAT was the best birthday present ever!

History of Father's Day!
Don’t forget…Father’s Day is Sunday!
Here is why we celebrate it….very interesting! (Go WV!)
First, if you read about Mother's Day in May, you'll learn that it traces back to the worship of the mother-goddesses, Rhea and Cybele, in ancient Greece. Over time the Christians turned it into worship of Mary, and in 1908, Anna Jarvis began lobbying to hold it on May 10th, her mother's death date. This became a US holiday in 1914.
It's interesting to think that while the old cultures all had great festivals celebrating womanhood and fertility, few if any had festivals promoting and supporting the role of fathers in the family. Just when Anna Jarvis was pushing to bring Mother's Day into official recognition, others were working to promote fatherhood.
In 1908, Dr. Robert Webb in West Virginia gave a sermon honoring fathers and all they do. The next year, Sonora Smart Dodd was listening to a sermon in 1909 about mothers. Sonora's father had raised her since she was tiny, and Sonora thought that Fathers should get their recognition too. Her dad was born in June, so in 1910 she convinced Spokane, Washington to hold a Father's Day celebration.
It was 1924 when President Coolidge encouraged all to celebrate a special day for fathers.
In 1966, President Johnson created the official date of the 3rd Sunday in June.
Where Mother's Day is usually about flowers and food (again tracing back to Greek customs), Father's Day is more about doing things together - fishing, hunting, golfing, birding, and other such activities. It isn't about giving gifts as much as about spending time - which is probably far more precious!

It All Begins with a Dr. Pepper
Uncle Rich....okay technically he is not Uncle Rich to us...Richard is Christi's (Randy's baby sister's) brother-in-law...Richard is Kelly's (Christi's husband) brother.
We call him Uncle Rich...Rich and Randy are really good friends...last year as Randy and Uncle Rich were contemplating life as they usually do...they were in deep discussions about today's youth and Uncle Rich made the comment "it all begins with a Dr. Pepper".
So now...when Randy and I see a young'ins misbehaving we look at each other and say..."it all begins with a Dr. Pepper". We are always complaining about how parents give their kids too much soda(Dr. Pepper) and that makes them hyper and out of control.
The point here....and there is one...a few weeks ago John learned how to drink out of a straw. So...when my folks and I went to New Mexico last week (note - previous blog) we stopped at a Mickey D's for a Coke...the next think I know...my Mom is complaining someone "stole" her Coke... I told her to take it away...but he is the grandson....and she is the grandma....what is a girl to do??? So...It all begins with a Dr. Pepper...better yet...a Coke!

345 Miles for Food....
As a "Light" I love to take road trips...just jump in the car and drive - no particular place to go.
I have taken many one day trips with my folks to eat at a favorite restaurant...tour a cavern...or look at bluebonnets in bloom. As Merle would say...I get "white-line fever". Unfortunately for me Randy does not understand this desire....he thinks it's totally insane to drive 360 miles in one day to eat at a restaurant that I have not ate at in 16 years. I have started taking these trips with John now in hopes I can get him some white-line fever... So last Thursday my folks and I...and Little Bit took off to Santa Rosa, New Mexico to eat at Joseph's - it has been there since the fifties. www.theroadwanderer.net/66NMex/santarosa.htm
We then drove 38 miles to Fort Sumner, New Mexico to visit Billy the Kid's grave.
We had a fun day despite the horrible wind!
In total we drove over 345 miles. It was worth it and Little Bit had a great day with great memories!
